Way finder and directory signage

Way finder and directory signage

No building or complex is complete without way finder signage, From outside to inside way finder signs are required as people will be lost without them. The building needs a name or number as does the entrance or doors. In the grounds or once inside visitors need direction. This type of product needs planning and the input of a graphic designer as this concept will also carry corporate Branding as well as informative messages. The design must be simple, easily read, and in some cases tactile for visually impaired. Planning way finder and directory signs is a great opportunity to produce eye catching Branded signage that delivers people smoothly to their destination. Add soft sell printed wall covering to the mix to enhance the program and this will add a further dimension to the project and Branding. Your graphic designer will need a very good brief and a budget for the project, at this stage you will need the input of a sign manufacturer who can offer all the latest materials and lighting to form stunning informative signage that will last for years with little or no maintenance. With an arsenal of materials that offer a long life and versatility in production to deliver the finished project with knockout affects. Hard wearing Acrylic sheet that can be opaque and self coloured to opal for illumination. Clear acrylic that can be reverse printed in any colour, forming face protection for the print and can be fixed with stand off fittings. Self adhesive for easy change options and temporary information points. Fire rated PVC sheet that can be printed with full colour images and is easily cut to shape and installed. Aluminium trim, frames and finishing can be part of the installation. Composite sheet can offer ridged panels for corners and outdoor signage.

Wide format printing signs project for National Lottery by Great Yarmouth printers Repro Arts

55 Metres of #print direct to print media foam PVC Foamex by Repro Arts has been installed at Greater Anglia Offers Great Yarmouth railway station Great Yarmouth. The #printing at the station depicts pictures of wonderful and nostalgic trains such as “Early driving van trailer”,”Class ’66 in English,Welsh and Scottish Livery” and “Class ’86 in Anglia Livery”
We are very proud to be helping uncover Great Yarmouth’s cultural assets and finding ways to support and promote them through “Making Waves Together”.
This project worked with local train enthusiast Mark Potton’s photographs and commissioned public artist Tom Pearman to design the artwork, creating added interest and enhancing one of Great Yarmouth’s gateways.
Thanks to the support of National Lottery Players, Arts Council England, Heirtage Lottery Fund, Great Yarmouth Borough Council, Waveney District Council and also to Repro Arts – we are pleased to work with local businesses who can also help improve the environment and make Great Yarmouth a better place to live, work and visit.

Thank you originalprojects;

A 55 metre long frieze of photographs taken by local train enthusiast Mark Potton has been installed at Great Yarmouth Train Station, thanks to originalprojects; a Great Yarmouth based arts organisation.

Mark Potton, who lives in Gorleston, has been photographing trains around the UK for 40 years, and now has a collection of over 20,000 photographs along with many items of memorabilia. He was presenting a small display at a neighbourhood lunch when Kaavous Clayton from originalprojects; met him and discovered this local treasure trove.

When he discovered Mark’s collection he wanted to help share it with the people who live here as well as visitors to the town. He discussed the idea of a large installation at Great Yarmouth Train Station with Alan Trett, the station manager, who helped to find a space at the train station to display the photographs. originalprojects; then commissioned artist Tom Pearman to take the photographs and find a way to display them that would enhance their qualities. Tom has taken the photographs and reflected them to emphasise the vanishing points

The project not only presents the hidden passion of a local individual, it helps to improve the visual appearance and enhance the overall feel of Great Yarmouth Train Station, one of the gateways to the town. Thanks to Greater Anglia and everyone involved in the project’s hard work this display should be installed in time for the air show.

This project is part of Great Yarmouth EXPO, a project that collects and celebrates cultural artefacts, personalities and customs from the town, and is part of originalprojects;’ work for Making Waves Together – part of the Great Place Scheme funded by Arts Council England and the Heritage Lottery Fund and delivered jointly between delivered jointly between Great Yarmouth Borough and Waveney District Councils.

originalprojects; received £45,000 to deliver various projects over 3 years. So far they have given new life to an empty shop where they display exhibitions of work that is either relevant to Great Yarmouth or by local artists (including a display of a fake 9 metre long sewer complete with fatberg); presented a conference exploring creative workspaces; worked with 3 local restaurants on a music and gastronomy event that celebrates the Portuguese speaking culture within our town, and have many more plans in the pipeline.

Made on Earth by humans

What a week for Elon Musk with another first for the world as SpaceX launched it’s Falcon 9 Heavy rocket with the return to Earth surviving Max Q the point of maximum dynamic air pressure. What a great team effort from concept, design and manufacture of the worlds first heavy rocket to be launched which will be reused. Who would not want to be Elon this week, what an achievement. The maiden launch and successful return of SpaceX which is a 70 metres high heavy rocket opens so many future possibilities for space travel and reducing costs of launching satellites and communication devices.

Now the dust has settled, the test payload orbits the sun and what a spectacle this payload is. The first car in space a red Tesla Roadster with Starman, which is incidentally  is named in tribute of the late David Bowie at the wheel of the Tesla Roadster.  Starman is dressed in a space suit and David Bowies  A Space Odyssey is playing on the audio system, which is still available from Amazon.co.uk, he is on track for a million years in space . The Tesla car has not been changed at all for this mammoth journey, it is a standard Tesla Roadster.

Additional items on board the Tesla Roadster are few Easter Eggs, plus a towel and a sign saying “Don’t Panic” and in the glove box a copy of “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” by author Douglas Adams, does this make Douglas the first author of the first publication in space. The names of some 6000 SpaceX workers employees are engraved on a plaque mounted on the payload.

One of the circuit boards has a printed imprint reading Made on Earth by Humans. What a successful project, so successful that it has delivered not just a project that will aide a world wide benefit in technology. This has also been a master piece in worldwide Branding and product awareness for the Tesla Brand. This Tesla Roadster will be talked about for years to come, with views of the car in space shown time and time again on TV programs all over the world. The print publishers of “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy ” could be claiming this is the first book travelling in space. A whole list of entries for the Guinness Book of records have been created.

Planning a campaign of this type does not happen every day and for most business owners, this will never happen to their business without paying very large amounts of money for the privilege. However large or small or even a fledgling business will have opportunities every day to market their Brand and promoting their business. With a little thought and planning you can grab the opportunity. Print is an ideal media to promote Brands and business. There is always an opportunity to get noticed and most of the time the only cost you incur is the print charge.

Look for the opportunity, a fence outside the office could support a printed banner, Car parking signs can be branded, company cars can carry advertising or a vehicle wrap in full colour, the sky is the limit. The floor in the hall way leading to your door could have a floor graphic, advertising Space travel for a travel agent. Your advertising could be out of this world if you use empty spaces for adverts.

Wayfinder signs can direct customers to your door. Building new premises or extending an existing building , use the builders hoarding boards to advertise the space you are developing, promoting your branding and your services, or use a QR Code to lead customers to your website taking advantage of cross media. Are your goods branded when in transport, if they are large vehicles a huge branded sticker with contact details will prove you are not from Mars. If your use a transport company regularly ask if you can add your message when they deliver on behalf of your company.

Working on site use an advertising board with all the company details and services offered and when you leave simply replace it with a site board saying a job well done by your company and leave it on site while other contractors finish the contract, for the small price of a printed site board you could gain another contract from the  free advertising.

Tesla should have vehicle wrapped that car……..

Butcher, Baker and Candlestick maker all need print

Whatever your business you need to promote

Your business may not offer a product for sale it may be a service or you may be only online. Whatever your business it needs print to raise awareness and visibility of the company and products or services offered. Even online companies need to promote awareness of that important website and companies as large as Amazon www.amazon.co.uk produce the billboards to shout about the services and products they offer. Larger companies use print in their plan to promote as part of a carefully planned cross media campaign. Print is the stable element with a guarantee of  short or long term visual impact. With so many ways to advertise in print, planning is so important as there are so many options available, billboards, buses, taxis, window graphics and floor graphics internal or external. Street advertising can be costly but effective, chill cabinets, magnetics, vinyls and dividers. we find that hanging cards with a message printed each side are popular and also very cost effective. There are numerous ways to advertise from Vehicle markings, advertising wraps and part wraps even removable magnetics for taxis and variable print and consecutive numbering.

Retail business know the power of print, producing regular print campaigns following the seasons and promoting sale promotions and embracing new phenomenon like Black Friday making this one of the largest turnover of sales in a two week period across the world.

Print is often overlooked by both large and small companies as they pay for radio and TV advertising this is a fantastic way of promoting but needs to be backed up by visuals and as we all know print is one of the most visible means of advertising. Offering simple print solutions like a banner which is reasonably priced but effective and easy to use and  placed in the correct position with a heavy footfall the banner can be viewed by thousands on a daily basis

Print has the versatility of performing inside and outside with weather resistant inks and print media will perform as well outside as in. Many print media will perform well if used in both scenarios.

A good place to start is to give your designer a very in-depth brief of both the print needs and the projects end use. Great design delivers not only a fantastic visual impact with high quality print to ensure the message is backed with vibrant colour. This will deliver the message with visual impact delivering more sales, its always a good idea at this stage to discuss your ideas with the qualified print manufacturer who should give ideas and suggestions on what can be done and an idea of meeting your budget.

High quality vector artwork will enable the artwork to be enlarged or reduced in size to the perfect print sizes required with out loss of the quality of any part of the design. If in dought you or your designer can contact Repro Arts with any artwork or media questions on sales@reproarts.co.uk our team is always happy to help.

With modern wide format printers full colour printing is common place, printing direct to most  print media material in sheets up to 3M x 2M or reel media up to 2.2M wide. With this size range all print requirements can be met. Printing with UV and solvent inks  is dependent on media specifications and you can print onto one or two sides.

Additional finishes can be added to the full colour print which include UV spot varnish full coverage UV Varnish in Gloss, Matt, Satin or colour finishers. Add Lamination with Gloss, Matt or Satin finishers to enhance the print colours. Add a shape to the printed item with die cutting or with a little engineering make the print three dimensional, too much to take in… again talk to your printer who will give you the advice and show you the options.

There is a lot to consider when putting together a print campaign not just the specifications and application  but also the budget.

With a wide range of wide format print media there is a product that will fit the budget for each print campaign however large or small. Dibond composite panels Correx, Foamex, PVC all in a range of colours. Display board in range of thickness, perspex acrylic in a range of colours including transparant and in a range of thicknesses. With Reel print media material options include self-adhesive films, paper, Back lit films, front lit banner PVC, Clingz are particularly great as they are all adhesive free. All can be printed in full colour plus white for clear or dark colour sheets.

The picture shown features a print project undertaken for local Jim’s Butchers. Their print brief was clear and precise, use our Branding to display our special offers outside the store. The displays need to be moved outside each morning and moved back into the store at the end of the trading day.We already produce A4 promotional hand outs printed on our store printer with artwork produced on the store computer.

Our studio were soon on the case, studying the brief and looking at previous artwork produced and used to print projects for Jim’s Butchers. The light bulb moment switched on. Use Jim’s Butchers Branding as a back board to stand outside the store with the A4 print outs attached to it. After a few visuals the plan pulls together. A very large Jim’s Butchers, Butcher Branding cut out add the wording Special offers and Jim’s Butchers with six spaces for six A4 special offer print outs. Artwork produced and signed off for print. The artwork is printed three to view on a sheet of white faced composite sheet 3M x 1.5M. The full colour printed sheet was then lamminated with gloss film to protect the printed image so when the A4 special offer sheets are removed, any unwanted adhesive residue can be cleaned away. The printed and gloss laminated sheet of composite is now cut to shape, revealing three out door sign units with the printed display ready for delivery.

Why use composite for the Jim’s Butchers project. This print media is easy to print onto, it is lightweight and easily portable to move in and out of the stored because the composite can also be gloss laminated  it can be regularly cleaned. Composite can be easily profiled around the Branding offering large display panels.

If you like a butchers bargain www.jim’sbutchers.co.uk to see Jim’s bargains this week.

The printed display boards have worked well, increasing sales and visitors to Jim’s
